"marilyn" joint world premiere Simon Curtis for 49 NY Film Festival centerpiece Gala

Image courtesy of the film society of Lincoln Center.The World Premiere of Simon Curtis "my week with Marilyn" will be screened as the centerpiece of Gala in the upcoming New York Film Festival on 9 October, said Thursday the film society of Lincoln Center. Last Friday FSLC announced "Butcher of Roman Polanski" will open the NYFF 49th on September 30.
According to Colin Clark diaries, "My week with Marilyn", is established in the summer of 1956, when a young 23-year-old Colin Clark (Eddie Redmayne), just below Oxford and decided to make his way into the film business, he worked as a humble Assistant on the set of "The Prince and the Showgirl". It was the film that the famous Sir Laurence Olivier (Kenneth Branagh) and Marilyn Monroe (Michelle Williams), who was also on honeymoon with her husband, playwright Arthur Miller (Dougray Scott).
Almost 40 years in the account of diary of Clark who was published "The Prince, the chorus girl and I", but a week lack age - which was published some years later as "My week with Marilyn". This is the story of that week. When Arthur Miller left to England, the coast is clear for Clark introduced Monroe to some of the pleasures of British life; one idyllic week in which he accompanied with a Monroe who was desperate to get away from his entourage of parasites of Hollywood and the pressure of work.
Produced by David Parfitt, the Weinstein Company release also star Dominic Cooper, Judi Dench, Julia Ormond, Zoe Wanamaker, Emma Watson, Toby Jones, Philip Jackson, Geraldine Somerville, Derek Jacobi and Simon Russell Beale. The film is set for a November release 4.
"After seeing Marilyn Monroe often portrayed in movies as a caricature, it is a pleasure to see this complex and unique screen personality portrayed presence as well by a talented actress Michelle Williams," commented Richard Peña, selection Committee Chairman & Director of the program, the film society of Lincoln Center in a statement about the movie.
In addition to today's announcement, NYFF organizers gave details about "Masterpieces" that will be screened during the event, including an 8 K Digital restored version of the epic sword and sandals of William Wyler "Ben-hur" (1959), Nicholas Ray "We Can't Go Home Again" (1973) and focus of the next centenary of Japan Nikkatsu films with 36 film screenings, including classics like "The Burmese harp" Kon Ichikawa (1956) "Birds of Masahiro Makino love song" (1936), Ko "Nakahira's crazed fruit" (1956), Shohei Imamura "pigs and battleships" (1961) and "Tokyo Drifter of Seijun Suzuki" (1966).
